Hengistbury Head Outdoors has been created for the community to reopen the centre so it can be used by the community.
We are working closely with BCP Council to make this a reality and there are a number of ways in which you can show your support and get involved if you would like to.
Attend an event or offer to help out! We are now starting to attend events in the region and also looking to hold events specifically in aid of Hengistbury Head Outdoors. Come and say Hi or give us a hand. Drop us an email at info@hengistbury.org if you'd like to help!
The easiest way to show your support is to follow our journey on social media, and like and comment on our posts. That way we can show everyone how strong the community support is to get the centre open and operational again for years to come.
We are on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. Just search for Hengistbury Head Outdoors on your favourite App and don't forget to share with your Friends!
We are seeking donations, from individuals and from organisations, which will help support our wider fundraising efforts and grant applications to re-establish the centre as a viable community hub.
You don't need to hold a Member Share to make a donation, but its just a way of helping the society fund the running of the society and in the future the centre.
Just go to our Shares and Donations page and read more.
We are seeking to identify and work with as many community groups as possible. we want the centre and its space to be a vital asset for as many community groups as possible. It is such a unique location, and as we rebuild the centre and improve the grounds, the uses of the centre will only be limited by the group that want to use the space.
So if you know of any charities or groups that could use a fantastic community space, tell them to get in touch!
As a Community Benefit Society we can offer membership of the society through the issue of a lifetime member share.
A Member share can be purchased for £10, which allows you to be directly involved as a member with the society and one individual member vote on the resolutions put to the society's members at the Annual General Meeting.
It is the most direct way of becoming actively involved with the running of the society.
Lifetime Members Shares are non-withdrawable and non-transferable.
Just go to our Shares and Donations page and read more.
We have already had some lovely support from local business, and we will need much more as our journey continues.
We will be reaching our for fundraising, sponsorship, for services from building, maintenance, to legal, to training, to education.
Volunteers will also become increasing important as we progress too.
The list is endless!
We'd love to hear how you think you can help, so please just drop us an email via our Contact Us page.
Unfortunately the centre was closed back in 2021, and the main building has fallen into disrepair.
Our plan, once we have had permission from BCP to take on the centre is to get the centre operational as quickly as possible, and build up the facilities and activities that we can run,
So unfortunately, aside from some existing user groups, the centre remains closed.
As soon as we can share news of how you can use the centre we will do so.
