The existing BCP Licenced User Groups

The Hengistbury Head Outdoor Activity Centre closed in 2020, and many of the activities, events and training courses stopped at that time, effectively closing the door to local education and the bulk of the wider community from access to the centre at all.

However a small number of the community user groups and clubs were given special dispensation by the council to carry on operating from the centre, albeit with no access to the main centre building and only very rudimental facilities and storage.

These are all fantastic local community groups, who have very kindly pledged their support to Hengistbury Head Outdoors, and many of their members have already joined the new community benefit society. They are all passionate about the centre and vocal in their collective support to see the centre open again and acting as a fantastic community asset, for all.

HHOEC STORIES

The centre has had such an impact on so many people over the last 60 years, its such an inspiration to us to hear of those stories.

We've added just one of those stories* here, have a read of a remarkable local lady, Margaret Norris and her journey with the centre and the user groups.

Pilgrim Bandits Charity

Pilgrim Bandits Charity was established by a small group of Special Forces veterans in 2007 with the sole aim of using their unique training and experience to help and inspire wounded soldiers to live life to the full.

We seek  to help those in need directly, with no compromise. Soon, those who needed help become those that give it. By pushing injured men and women into physically and mentally demanding situations that they would not have dreamed possible; kayaking extraordinary distances, jumping from aircraft, running races, trekking across inhospitable terrain, self confidence is restored and self-belief instilled – Always a Little Further. Pilgrim Bandits pushes those that have already endured so much to go beyond endurance – to embrace life again and in so doing inspire others.

Prospective New Users Groups and Associations

As we plan for when we are able to open and operate the centre as a community asset, we have already started to have discussions with other prospective user groups, clubs and companies of the centre and its facilities.

We welcome the opportunity to talk to any and all groups who would wish to offer their services to the society, and we see this as a vital part of our ambitions and business plan to have a long term viable operation at the centre.

We have already had some very interested discussions with some fantastic local organisations, who would wish to have the centre as a great base. Let's hope we can make this a reality for them and the community.
